Rams KO'd in Round oneNov 9th, 2007
The Rams of Maricopa fell to the Bulldogs of Winslow 38-13 on Friday night.
The Bulldogs found the end zone in the middle of the first quarter when QB Mathew Smith took it up the middle from 10-yards out, giving the Bulldogs a 6 - 0 lead. The extra point attempt by Stacey Berg failed.
Early in the second quarter Rams QB Will Clemans was picked off by safety Kirk Ramsey. Ramsey returned it 55-yards for the touchdown, giving the Bulldogs a 12 - 0 lead. The two point conversion failed.
Rams running back Matt Fierros returned on the ensuing kick off to the Window 35-yard line. The Rams offense got down to the Winslow 10-yard and went for three. The 20-yard field goal attempt by Fierros was blocked.
With 20 seconds left in the first half Winslow running back John Gonzales found the end zone from 3-yards out. The PAT was successful and the Bulldogs a 21 - 0 lead at the half.
Rams quarterback Clemans was intercepted by Bulldog linebacker Paul Guzman. Guzman returned it 47-yards for the TD. The PAT by Stacey Berg successful, giving the Bulldogs a 31 - 0 lead with 5:13 left in the third quarter.
With return man Tony Jones sidelined due to an ankle injury do-it-all senior Fierros caught the ensuing kickoff and went for 47-yards, giving the Rams great field position. Later in the drive Clemans fired a pass to Blake Schwanbeck from 10-yards out for the TD. The PAT by Schwanbeck was successful cutting the deficit to 31 - 7.
With 7:30 remaining the game Rams quarterback Clemans fired a bomb to his favorite wide-out Cody Seymore. Seymore went 60-yards for the TD. The 2-point conversion failed and fell to the Bulldogs 38 - 13.
3A Round 1 Maricopa vs. Winslow
Nov 1st, 2007 The Maricopa Rams are taking I-40 east to Winslow on Friday to take on the Bulldogs of Winslow High.
This is the Rams inaugural season at the 3A level, so making it to playoffs is big accomplishment for Coach Brandt and his Rams.
The Rams are peaking at the right time and are riding a three game winning steak. In the past three weeks the Ram have taken down Santa Cruz, Florence, and Globe.
The Rams defensive unit has really turned up the intensity the past three games. The defense is anchored by senior linebacker Matt Fierros, who finished the season with 114 tackles. Brandt will look to look defensive end Tony Jones and nose tackle Derrick Gonzales to reek havoc in the Winslow backfield. Jones finished the season with 15 sacks and is capable of containing the outside running game.

Rams make it to the playoffs
Oct 29th, 2007
The Rams(6-4) of Maricopa High School earned a spot in the 2007 playoffs with a 40-22 victory over The Tigers of Globe High School Friday night. It was the first road win of the season.
The running tandem of Matt "mini bus" Fierros and Blake Schwanbeck tallied 202 yards rushing and four touchdowns for the Rams.
Half way through the first quarter Fierros
scampered 18 yards for the TD. The PAT by Fierros was good, giving the Rams a
7-0 lead.
The Tiger offense found the end zone halfway
through the third quarter when quarterback Tober Francom hit Brady Wager across
the middle from 11- yards out. The two point conversion run up the gut by Nathan
Smith was successful, cutting the Rams lead to 20-8. Rams leg out Gophers 10-7 at home
Oct 20, 2007 Game photos click here
With 34 ticks remaining on the game clock
do-it-all senior Matt "mini bus" Fierros converted on a 35-yard field goal,
giving the Rams a 10-7 victory over the visiting Gophers of Florence High.
With time winding down things didn't look good
for the Rams, but on the Gopher’s first offensive play, Rams junior cornerback
Vince Davis forced a fumbled spun around and recovered the ball.
Clemans vs. Clemans Friday 7p.m
Oct 17, 2007
This Friday's homecoming game will be the battle of Will and Cash Clemans.
Rams quarterback Will "LD" Clemans is coming off his best game of the season going 12 of 15 for 180 yards. Clemans threw two TD's and ran for another in a victory over Santa Cruz.
Clemans will look to wide out Cody Seymore to help spread the field. Seymore had a big game last week and I expect a repeat performance. In the middle Clemans will look to tight end Devon Snell. The kid caught six balls against Safford two weeks ago, so look for him to get back on track.
Florence (3-5) quarterback Cash Clemans is also coming off his finest performance of the season in which he completed 12 of 20 for 246 yards. Cash hit Andy Martinez for three scores through the air.
Maricopa (4-4) needs this win to stay in the playoff chase. Clemans and the rest of the offense will have to run a balanced and mistake free offensive attack.
With linebacker Matt "mini bus" Fierros getting less carries offensively he should have a big night defensively. The kid can flat out hit and shutdown a running attack. Look for defensive end Tony "the jet" Jones to have big night. He should reak havoc in the Florence backfield and come up with a sack or two. If Florence kick offs to him be prepared to see him break one loose.
Linebacker Blake Schwanbeck will help contain the middle of the field. The kid is a competitor and plays with a lot of emotion. Super soph cornerback Vince Bailey has been a clutch performer all season. The kid is just discovering what he is capable of doing from the corner position.
Defensive tackle Chris Wilson needs to play with reckless abandonment and help break into the Florence backfield. It's the last home game for seniors Wilson, Fierros, Clemans, Seymore, and Jones, so I want give Rams fans a good show.
The Rams have the opportunity to go 5-1 at home this season. Come out and support them this Friday!
Good Luck Rams!

The Rams defense held the state's leading rusher Pat Cann to 10-yards in the first quarter and kept him and the Dust Devils off the board in the first and fourth quarters. Kudos to the Rams defense for rising to the occasion.

Rams sophomore cornerback Vince Bailey picked off a pass in the end zone with seconds left in the game to seal the win for the Rams. Rams Defensive end Tony "the jet" Jones had a safety and sack on the night. Kudos goes to the following defensive players: Blake Schwanbeck, Derrick Gonzales, Vince Davis, Eric Chavez, Chris Wilson, Matt Fierros, Cody Seymore, Felipe Palafox, Santiago Castro, and Kendell Morris.

Tony "the jet" Jones is Arizona's No. 1sacker.
Sept 18th, 2007
According to Maxpreps.com Tony "the jet" Jones is 5th in the nation and No. 1 in Arizona in quarterback sacks. He is averaging 2.3 per game. Jones who plays defensive end is very quick on the edge and is starting to get noticed in the 3A ranks. The jet has taken on the role of kick returner this season. He had 88 yard return against Bourgade and was arm tackle away from taking two other attempts the distance earlier in the season. The Bears of Coolidge refused to kick off to Jones and were flagged for kicking off out bound on numerous occasions last week. Jones has big play potential and needs to play a role in the offensive game plan. He has found his niche on defense and special teams, so I'm sure on the offensive side of the ball he would be a big contributor.
